At BUSHkids every child has the right to be safe and feel safe.
We are committed to the safety and wellbeing of every child in our care.
As a Child Safe Organisation we prioritise the safety and wellbeing of children that access our services and have contact with our workers – staff, students and volunteers.
We believe every child has the right to feel safe and be safe from any form of harm or abuse, and we take our responsibility to be child safe seriously.
Being a Child Safe Organisation means, we create safe, inclusive and friendly environments for children. We welcome and listen to feedback from children and their families, to help us to continuously improve our services. Our practice, policies and procedures are informed by legislation, National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and Queensland Child Safe Standards, this ensures that all children are safe when they are with us.
We ensure everyone associated with BUSHkids understands what it means to be part of a Child Safe Organisation, and that they have the necessary skills and training to identify and report concerns, and know how to respond appropriately.
To keep children safe, we commit to:
- implementing the Queensland Child Safe Standards
- providing a safe and supportive environment for all children
- the prevention of inappropriate behaviour and making sure that children are not exposed to any form of harmful conduct or abuse
- empowering and supporting children to participate in decisions that affect them and share any concerns they may have
- ensuring children know who to approach if they feel unsafe or have any child safety concerns.
